My husband and I have lived in Phoenix, Arizona for the past 20 years, but my mom recently moved here to live with us.
We built a mother-in-law suite out of the garage and we set everything up so my mom would be happy and comfortable.
We bought a comfortable bed with new sheets, pillows, and quilts. We painted the room a light yellow color that my mom would enjoy and we picked out some curtains with butterflies. We also contacted a Phoenix HVAC contractor to add ductless heating and cooling in the additional space. It was important to make sure that my mom was going to be warm enough during the winter and cool enough during the summer. The Phoenix HVAC contractor added the ductless heating and cooling system in a space near the west wall of the room and it looked great. My mom moved into the room and she was very happy with all of the accommodations. She said we went through too much trouble, but I just wanted her to be happy. I knew that she did not want to leave her home and I wanted her to be happy in Phoenix with us. The temperature outside is starting to get colder. My mom has a nice ductless heater that we paid good money to install, but my mom insists on using a small space heater that she brought from her house. The space heater is old, dusty, dirty and it smells bad every time she turns it on. I want my mom to be happy, but I want her to be healthy too.
