I retired from the military long before my wifey retired, but i definitely wanted to move down South! Both of us had a kid residing in Tampa, FL and I wanted us to move down there to be closer to our grandchildren, but the thought of residing in Tampa Bay didn’t sound horrible either, then after my wifey finished with her task and retired, the more than 2 of us started looking for a locale in Tampa.
Both of us moved to the neighborhood a few months after the retirement was settled and done.
It didn’t take long to sell our house. It was only on the market for 15 days. Both of us gained a full asking price offer, perhaps every one of us could have gotten $10,000 more for the house, but every one of us were ready to sell and definitely did not want to wait just for a few more dollars! My wifey and I definitely weren’t prepared for the heat and humidity in Tampa Bay. Both of us moved in the middle of June. It was 86° on the summer time day that every one of us left our locale in Michigan. It was 101 degrees when every one of us arrived in Tampa Bay. A few weeks after every one of us settled into our new site, there was a tropical storm that knocked out the power for 5 days. Both of us didn’t have a generator and every one of us could not run anything in the house including the refrigerator, freezer, or A/C. My wifey and I nearly died from the heat… Without the A/C running, the house was at least a hundred degrees! During the day, there were times when I thought it was absolutely cooler outside.
