The wharf is one of the most famous places to visit in San Francisco.
There are a ton of activities at the Wharf for children, adults and families. One of my favorite things on the wharf is the sourdough breadboard and hot clam chowder. The Wharf has the best clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. Monterrey has a pretty nice sourdough bread bowl as well, but San Francisco makes the best clam chowder hands down. My girlfriend and I went to the wharf last weekend and we planned to sit on the pier and watch the sunset. We grabbed a couple of bowls of clam chowder and walked down to the pier to sit. Unfortunately, the smell of marijuana was all over the air. Someone was smoking marijuana at the end of the pier and the wind was blowing in my direction. My girlfriend and I smelled the stench of marijuana and it ruined our experience. A lot of people in San Francisco used recreational marijuana. It is 100% legal and readily available in a number of places near The Wharf. I wasn’t surprised that someone in San Francisco was using recreational marijuana, but I was disappointed that the smell of weed was ruining our experience for the evening. We didn’t eat most of the clam chowder. We took it back home and heated it up in the microwave later. The bread bowl wasn’t very fresh and soft, but the chowder still tasted great, even if it was heated in the microwave. The next time we go to the wharf for the evening, we will be sure to stay closer to the dining area.
